and new ones are added - our new Argos
superstore
is
launched in January and July.
How long before my Argos superstore
wedding list is available for guests to view and buy
from?
If you set up your Argos gift

Argos superstoreue throws this in, hoping you will

start buying all their services to see if it works out
cheaper. What does the Argos superstore home insurance
cover? You receive automatic cover for your keys,
and up to £1000 to cover any locksmith's charges for
replacement locks and keys (per year). You get up to 3

pedigree dog which costs £10.92. If you want Argos
platinum level cover then you need to call Argos for a
more detailed quote. Incidentally, these prices relate
to pets aged under 4 years. They do insure pets older
than 4 years but again, you will have to call for a
detailed Argos quote. The Argos superstore cover includes
legal fees, vet's fees and any help with any costs
involved with advertising for lost or stolen pets. Click
on the link to apply for Argos pet insurance.
Argos
superstore travel insurance now has a separate online web

insurance include single trip cover from 3-31 days, muti
trip cover for Europe and worldwide. Extra Argos cover
is available for winter sports and business trips.
Additional Argos cover is available for hazardous
sports. This type of Argos cover is extremely
competitive so shop around for the best deal you can
get.
Argos has teamed up with A.P.H., Travelex, Last minute.com, and the R.A.C. to offer some great discounts on travel. You can save 25% on airport parking if you pre-book with A.P.H. You can also get Argos commission free travel money delivered direct to your door this sounds too good to be true, how can Argos make money if they give you commission free money and then have it delivered to you?. If you sign up with Argos travel services you can get roadside assistance from the R.A.C from around £36.
You can apply for an Argos superstore loan which has an APR of 6.9% (typical 11.4%) for loans of £5000. This is probably the most competitive market there is, so please shop around for the best deal you can. As far as I can see Argos superstoreue loans are not any different from all the other loan companies out there
The Argos superstore store card is a good idea and if you use it wisely you can only benefit and it will not rack up huge interest payments it was launched in January 2001 and can be used at all Argos UK retail stores and also at their Argos superstore online web site. The Argos superstore card has a reward scheme using the very popular
Argos superstore premier points programme. You can also use the Argos superstore store card by telephone at Argos Additions and Argos Direct superstore and even through digital TV. The biggest selling point of the Argos store card is the 6 months interest free credit facility, allowing you to buy any goods from the Argos superstore and not pay any interest if the full amount is paid back within a 6 month period.
To cope with the demand that bringing out the Argos superstore store card would generate, Argos UK worked closely with Experian to create a contact/call centre to deal with all things related to the Argos superstore store card. A Argos superstore call centre was opened in Widnes with over 200 sales advisors and managers all specifically trained to deal with questions and queries related to the new card. The Argos store card sector is highly competitive and we believe the Argos superstore store card is very competative
The Argos superstore competition commission reviewed the whole store card industry and they produced a report in 2006 which proves for interesting reading. It showed that women are more likely to hold a store card than men, and that those with more money are more likely to hold a store card as well. The average amount of credit on a store card and upto £850 for those who paid the minimum amount or less each month. Argos UK is one of the very few retailers who actually own and operate their store card themselves.
The whole store card industry generates over £600 million per year for these companies, so it is hugely profitable. The interest charges or APR on store cards is usually over 25% and generally much closer to 30%. The interest charges on store cards where found to be higher than those offered on credit cards, so you will be better off if you use your credit card than by taking out a store card. The way they make so much money on these store cards is through interest charges on those of us who don't pay off the balance in the specified time, and also through insurance schemes that are offered when you sign up for the card. This insurance takes the form of payment protection, purchase protection (damaged or faulty goods), price protection (you get a refund when goods are reduced) and also through cross selling of other financial services.
The acceptance levels for Argos superstore store cards are generally higher than those for general credit cards (around 65%), this is because retailers want as many people as they can to use their store card. The acceptance rate for general credit cards is around 50%.Also, the credit limits on store cards is much lower than that on credit cards. Store cards offer around £150 - £1500 depending on your credit check, the initial credit allowed on most credit cards is somewhere between £1000 - £10000.
Argos superstore UK want people to get into debt when using their card so they can make money, but even if you use the card and pay the money owed back in time you will more than likely keep on using the card and will still be spending money at Argos or anywhere else you have a store card.
The Argos superstore store card is a good idea and if you use it wisely you can only benefit and it will not rack up huge interest payments. Make sure that you read the small print before you use it, i.e., insurance costs and payment protection and you could save money through using it when you receive discounts or vouchers.
Argos superstore is the largest general-goods retailer in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland with over 660 stores. Argos superstore is unique amongst major retailers in the UK because its primary means of displaying goods to customers is via a superstore Customers can browse through the superstore, select items to buy, pay for the items, and then collect the items from a counter in store.
The original Green Shield Stamps 'superstoreue' shops were rebranded Argos beginning in July 1973.
Argos superstore launched in July 1973 with 1000 members of staff, taking £1,000,000 during a week in November (source). Argos superstore was purchased by BAT Industries in 1979 for a deal worth £32 million. The following year, Argos opened their Elizabeth Duke jewellery counter, and by 1982 were the UK's 4th biggest jewellery retailer. In 1984, Argos introduced the DTS/Comart system, an advanced retail computing system, bringing stores online for overnight polling of sales data.
1990 saw Argos demerging from BAT to form Argos plc and the launch of Argos Direct, the home delivery arm. In 1993 the aging DTS/Comart system was replaced with the COBOL application AURA (Argos UNIX Retail Application). 2000 saw another re-organisation for Argos with the Argos Retail Group being formed following the purchase of the business by GUS plc, the introduction of white goods to the Argos Direct arm of the business and the Argos Card being launched.
Argos publishes a superstore twice a year (a Spring/Summer superstore edition in January and an Autumn/Winter superstore edition in July). The superstores are constantly expanding, and current editions have well over 1000 pages. Each page of the Argos superstore contains photographs of items, along with a brief description of the item, the price (at the time the superstore was printed), and a unique superstore number.
Superstores are also backed up by seasonal sales flyers, offering Not In Superstore lines and price reductions on existing deals. Other items are sometimes available in stores, such as ex-superstoreue goods at reduced prices (especially after the launch of a new superstore) and also in certain stores, Managers Specials lines, usually delivery goods returned unused by other customers.
In Early 2006 Argos trialed a new superstore branded Argos Home in over 100 stores nationwide. This was proven to be successful and on Saturday 5th August 2006 it launched the second Argos Home superstore this time in all 200 extra stores. The superstore is aimed to pick out home furniture from the main superstore and place a bigger emphasis on the fact that Argos sell furniture. Along with this it introduces styling tips for the current season along featured ranges.
Traditionally, an Argos superstore customer will browse through the superstore - either at the in-store browser points or at home with a Argos superstore, selecting items they wish to buy and writing down the Argos superstore numbers for those items. The customer then takes the shopping list of Argos superstore numbers to a till, where the cashier types them into the till, checks the stock levels, and sells the items, issuing the customer with a receipt. As soon as the items are sold, picking tickets are printed in the store's stockroom, and a member of Argos staff picks the items from the shelves and takes them to the collection area in store. Meanwhile, the customer takes their receipt to the collection counter, and (sometimes after a few minutes' wait at busy times) is issued with their goods. Most stores have an automated "Call Forward" system in place, which issues customers with an order number and estimated collection time , and the customer is called forward to the collection counter automatically once the estimated collection time is reached, or sooner if the Argos staff override the system used touch screen keypads.
Recent developments in many stores are Argos Quick Pay kiosks; touchscreen terminals where customers can enter their own Argos superstore shopping list of superstoreue numbers, pay by credit or debit card and be issued with a receipt without the intervention of a cashier. This system allows people to avoid the sometimes lengthy till queues, however only accept people paying with cards, and do not seem to be as reliable as the standard Argos till software.
To ensure that stock is available when a customer arrives in the Argos superstore store, they are encouraged to use the Check & Reserve service before going into store, either using the Argos website, telephone or text message service. This allows an Argos customer to reserve stock until the end of the next working day, or order it into that store, depending on the store format. Customers who reserve items are issued with a reservation number, which is either presented to the cashier or entered into the Quick Pay terminal, where the customer pays for the goods as normal. Customers can also check stock in store using the Argos superstore Stock Checker terminals, saving them from queuing for items that may be out of stock.
There are variants to this system - specifically the Elizabeth Duke jewellery counter, and also the customer view system - which allows for customers to see the goods prior to purchase. Also, Argos superstore has a home delivery arm entitled Argos Direct, which allows delivery of most in-store items, and also a selection of larger goods in the superstore which are delivery only; customers can order goods in-store (with the assistance of a cashier) or online for home delivery. Argos are currently trialling a new store system that allows Argos Direct orders to be placed from in-store terminals linked to the website.

Additions Direct is the new name
for Argos Additions. Additions Direct offer an
extensive range of affordable products. Enjoy
safe online shopping for the latest women’s
fashion, menswear, kid’s clothes, stylish
homeware, consoles & games and TV’s and
electricals was bought in 2004 by Littlewoods
Home Shopping, who are the very popular mail
order superstoreue retailers. The result of this
was the name change from Argos Additions to
Additions Direct. What does this name change
mean? Well it would appear that there is a
broader range of products in the Additions
Direct superstoreue than you will find in the
standard Argos superstoreue. The emphasis is on
more fashion and
homeware
products, which really is the basis of the
Littlewoods superstoreue.
In 2005, Littlewoods merged with Shop Direct (which used to be G.U.S) to provide even more choice for home superstoreue shopping, this merger has proved very successful, with an annual turnover of £2 billion. The group is owned by the Barclay brothers who also happen to own the Daily Telegraph. Additions Direct has now become one of the largest superstoreues in the UK. At Additions Direct you will find a massive choice of women's fashion, men's fashion, footwear, sportswear, furniture and homeware, and lots of stuff for the kids as well, with the "back to school" range. Despite the growing clothing lines there is also a great choice of electrical products such as fridges, washing machines, plasma TV's and camcorders in the superstoreue. Recently, Additions Direct have added their own home interior range, with dining, lighting and bedding ideas. Shopping at the Additions Direct web site is very simple and straightforward. Just click on the item you want and it will automatically be added to your shopping basket. You can easily check the contents of your basket at any time, and if you change your mind about buying any product you just click the "remove item" button, and the item will be removed from your shopping basket. You can pay for any thing you buy at Additions Direct with your credit card, or you could sign up for the Additions Direct plus account. Using the direct plus account gives you more flexibility when you pay for your goods. Please be aware that the APR on this card is a whopping 29.8% if you choose to pay the minimum amount due on your account. However, you can still pay the amount due in one go, or you can opt for the 3 months interest opt out plan. Using this facility means that you can pay off your account in 3 months and avoid paying any interest at all. I reckon that this is the best way to use this card. If you do choose to only pay the minimum amount due each month, then be aware that you could be subjected to charges if you miss a payment or if you cheque bounces. These charges range from £5 to £15, so be sure to check the small print before you sign up for the Additions Direct plus account. Delivery charges are £3.50 for smaller items, no matter how big the order, and they will usually be delivered in 48 hours. There is also the option of next day delivery which will cost you £6.45, and specified day delivery, which costs the same. Larger items such as electricals and flat packed furniture have longer delivery times, ranging from 2 to 6 weeks, and delivery prices range from £15 up to £70. My advice is to check the price and delivery time before you decide to buy larger items. You may find a better deal somewhere else online. Additions Direct also offer other financial services including Account Cover Plus, which offers up to 3 years protection on your superstoreue purchases, and also protects your payments should you run into problems. You can also get extended warranties and phonecare and furniture insurance. Make sure you read the information about extended warranties and store cards on this web site before you take out these options. All in all, it seems that the Additions Direct superstoreue is a resounding success, offering more products and more discounts than the standard Argos superstoreue. Additions Direct gives you a quick and very easy way to shop online, which will save you time and money. |
| The Argos superstoreue is
extremely successful and offers more choice and
more products than any other superstoreue retailer.
However, things may be about to change! In a
move that will send shock waves through the
owners of Argos UK, Tesco are planning to move
into the homewares, electrical and garden
products sector. They plan to bring out their
own superstoreue called "Tesco Direct" , which,
although not as big in choice as the Argos
superstoreue, you can bet that it will grow and
grow in a very short space of time. Tesco
accounts for one pound in every eight spent in
the UK, and their financial clout and enormous
bulk buying power means that their prices will
probably be even cheaper than the products in
the Argos superstoreue.
At the moment, Tesco has already expanded it's non food operations team, and in preparation for the new superstoreue launch it has recruited over 100 buyers,( many have been poached from Argos themselves! ). Reports have shown that Tesco is about to overtake Argos as the leading non food retailer in the UK. Tesco have sales in the UK of around £32 billion! and their non food operations account for about 20% of this. Every year their sales grow and grow, with electrical sales up by 34% last year. At the moment though, the new Tesco superstoreue only has about 9000 products, compared to the 17000 on offer at the Argos superstoreue. Another reason to worry Argos is that Tesco have lower property costs than Argos does. This is shown by the fact that most Tesco stores are in out of town locations and therefore do not have the same overheads as a city centre location, which is where Argos has many of their stores. Argos must be very scared of what Tesco is doing, but hey, the people who benefit from all of this are us, the consumers. I personally hope that this kicks off a massive retail war, with prices being slashed, just like the current supermarket war. This is bound to happen, it's only a matter of time. Unfortunately this retail war is not beneficial to everyone. Think about the suppliers, they keep getting pressure from companies like Tesco and Asda to drop their prices, and this happens month after month, every year. Suppliers cannot continue to make profit like this, and there will come a time when it has to end, or bottoms out. People who work at the suppliers will be lucky to get a pay rise, leaving them less money to spend on non essential items. It cancels itself out because they earn less money but this is offset by being able to buy things cheaper. Things are only going to get worse. You can bet that people like Asda are looking very closely at this, and don't be surprised to see them launching a superstoreue as well! The earth will soon belong to Tesco and Asda!! Ok, enough of the doom and gloom! A little competition is always healthy. Argos is the market leader in this industry, and their online presence has been a huge hit as well. The Argos online web site has won many awards, earlier this year they won the online retailer of the year and the customer services award. Argos has now won 9 retail awards in the past 5 years. The Argos superstoreue sells over 17000 products for the home, and the superstoreue comes out twice a year, with around 1700 pages. Argos serves over 130 million customers per year through it's high street stores and takes 4 million orders each year online and telephone. There is an Argos superstoreue in over two thirds of households in the UK! What does all this mean? It means that Argos UK knows what it is doing! There are many reviews about Argos, online, some good, some bad, but with so many customers shopping with them each year, mistakes are bound to happen, orders will get mixed up or lost, goods may be damaged or faulty, it is inevitable, but it is unlucky when it happens to you. The comments on customer returns I have read are very favourable, and no one really complains too much about the prices at Argos. They must be recommended because of their popularity and low prices, it's as simple as that, but get ready for the Tesco superstoreue and the price drops that we can look forward to. |

The method of shopping in Argos differs from most traditional British high street retailers. At peak trading times (the build-up to Christmas), queues at Argos collection counters can be very long. However, Argos' success shows that many customers are willing to put up with these drawbacks because of the advantages of shopping at Argos [citation needed].
Because most stock is held in stockrooms to which only staff have access, much more stock can be held per unit floor area than can be held in a traditional shop. Stock in Argos stockrooms is arranged to make most efficient use of the space - by range, as opposed to superstore number order, meaning similar size items can be kept together, typically in 3 metre high racks with numbered aisles, bays and shelves for quick picking. In a traditional shop it must be displayed as to be appealing to the customer, however in Argos, as most customers shop from photographs of items in the superstore or online. Argos often packages its goods in plain packaging or simple plastic bags, rather than smart packaging for shopfloor display. The fact that customers don't have direct access to most stock means that incidents of shoplifting and customers damaging stock are significantly reduced. This allows Argos stores to hold a wider variety of items in stock than a traditional retailer, and sell at lower prices than their competitors [citation needed], who must invest in shopfloor displays and security systems.
Only a small selection of available items are placed on public display. Most products on sale are merely illustrated in the superstore, similar to the sort previously issued only by mail order companies. A laminated superstore is placed on display in premises on a prime retail street open during normal shopping hours. By this means, floorpace requirements and overheads can be minimised and cost savings passed on to customers through keener pricing [citation needed]. Most of the goods are available tightly packed over the counter, but larger items might be delivered straight to the customer's home a few days after their order is placed. Thus storage costs can also be kept to a minimum.
Although the atmosphere of their shops is basic and functional, the superstore normally reveals product details way beyond those that might not be legible in a traditional shop with ample display space and - perhaps - poorly briefed sales staff [citation needed]. The superstoreues are also used as a price guide before shopping expeditions, enabling a shortlist of competing brands to be compared away from the bustle of the high street and the persuasive chatter of a salesman.
There are 3 main formats of Argos superstoreue stores:
Argos Call & Collect - these stores hold very little stock, and specially order in products for collection by customers at a later date.
Argos Traditional stores (referred to as Ordered In) - these stores hold the traditional Argos range (over 17,500 lines) and the Extra range can be ordered in from the warehouse within 3 working days, typically (depending on stock availability)
Argos Extra stores (referred to as Stocked In) - These items hold the full range of stock in the superstoreue, including the Extra range. The Extra range is approximately a third bigger than the traditional range, so most Extra stores tend to be in out of town retail parks, where more space is available at a lower cost.
Some town and city centre stores will soon be trailing holding some Argos Extra stock by reducing their stock holding in slower selling lines (such as large and heavy flat pack furniture).
In the financial year April 2003– March 2004, Argos had sales of over £3 billion. Argos was acquired by GUS plc in 1998, and has its head office at the ARG Retail Centre of Excellence in Milton Keynes. Argos is part of the Argos Retail Group division of GUS, which also includes the Homebase DIY retailer.
Argos used to own Argos Additions, but this is now owned by the Shop Direct Group and is known as Additions Direct. In June 2005, Argos purchased the Index brand from Littlewoods but are not currently using it. They also purchased 33 former Index stores which were converted into Argos stores.
The Argos Retail Group is in the process of being demerged from GUS plc, a process due to be completed in late 2006. The other remaining company of GUS, Experian, is going to handle the financial services that were previously GUS plc's responsibility.
In 2001, Argos sparked a political controversy in Scotland, when it sacked several workers for refusing to work on a Sunday. This action would have been illegal in the rest of the UK, as the Sunday Trading Act 1994 gave shopworkers in England and Wales the right to refuse Sunday work (unless they were employed to work solely on a Sunday). The 1994 Act did not apply to Scotland as there was no legislation regarding Sunday trading applicable to Scotland. Although Argos later retracted its decision to sack the workers and to enforce a Sunday working clause in Scottish employee contracts, their actions led to the passing of the Sunday Working (Scotland) Act 2003 which extended the legal right of employees to refuse Sunday working to include shopworkers in Scotland
In 2002, Argos, along with rival retailer Index were accused by the Office of Fair Trading of price fixing goods from toy manufacturer Hasbro. The decision reached in 2003 resulted in Argos being fined £17.28 million, however, an appeal in 2005 led to that being reduced to £15 million. As of 2005, Argos deny price fixing and are appealing the decision.
The Current Argos Superstore costs around £2.15 to produce.[citation needed]
19 Million Autumn/Winter 2006 Argos Superstores were produced[citation needed].
Around 2 million of these Argos superstores were handed out within the first three weeks of launch.
Each Superstore printed has a target to bring back around £83 of sales [citation needed].
The fitting of new Argos stores is solely funded by the profits made from the Argos Card. [citation needed]
Argos's jewellery department, Elizabeth Duke, was named after a pet chinchilla owned by one of the company's directors.
After looking at many reviews about the Argos superstore online, it appears that there is a wide variety, ranging from excellent to very poor( I will never do my shopping at Argos superstore again!!) I think this kind of feedback is standard for a large company because you lose the personal touch that you get with a small company who only deal with a small amount of customers. Yet this is the major point in buying anything from anyone- if you are happy with the product and the customer service then you will go back and use them again. "The customer is always right" well not all the time, but most of the time!
This customer service leads to people telling others, either by word of mouth, or on an internet forum, all about their experience in dealing with Argos superstore or any other company, as I have seen, some good, some bad. Think about this though, as Argos superstore continues to expand and open more stores with more products at lower prices, surely this competitive pricing policy will put smaller businesses out of business? This is the "Tesco Effect" whereby the large company eats up all small business because no one can compete with their bulk buying power. The same thing is happening with Argos as they put more and more small firms away. What happens next is that even if you have a bad experience with Argos you will be stuck because there will be nowhere else left to buy your items! You will have little choice but to buy from them, so maybe Argos superstore will not care so much about a little bit of bad publicity from a few people( quite a few actually if you read some of the reviews!)
Another problem with Argos superstore UK are the delivery times. Many people seem to be unhappy with the time they have to wait for the goods and then taking a day off work to sit in and wait all day for the good to arrive, I can think of nothing worse than doing this, what a waste of a day! Unfortunately, this problem will not go away, as our roads get ever more busy, delays are inevitable, and we pay the price. Even if you go shopping at your local Argos store and order a large item it will still have to be delivered, so you can't escape!
The Argos UK online superstore and their superstores do offer a huge range of stuff at competitive prices and I reckon that you will be unfortunate if you have any problems when shopping with them, or any other online store. It can be very frustrating when problems do arise, so my advice is to go on the internet forums and voice your anger, it may not solve the problem, but it will make you feel better!!
Argos superstore Activities Superstore
Helicopter Buzz (for two).
Whilst Argos superstore is the number one United Kingdom retailer for small electrical appliances, toys and housewares, it also is a high performer in many other markets. Examples of other markets that Argos superstoreues have been successful include Argos furniture, consumer electronics, DIY and gardening products, jewellery and sports equipment. Still not sure? why don't you check out the latest fantastic Argos bed home delivery offers online.
Argos - buy online
from the trusted UK household name for choice, convenience
and value.
This is a relatively new idea from Argos UK. The web site seems like a great idea. At Argos Spares you can buy parts, spare parts, accessories and consumables for almost any electrical appliance, this site does not just sell spare parts for electrical items from the Argos superstoreue, they also sell spares for anything, which is a bonus! By buying direct from Argos Spares you can save up to 30% off high street prices. Argos will also deliver any items you order direct to your door.
Argos Spares stock all the top name brands such as Black and Decker, Cannon, Dyson, Electrolux, JVC, Motorola, Neff, Panasonic, Siemens and Sony, to name just a few. They also stock many less well known brands, and if they don't happen to stock the part you want, they will try to source it for you. The web site is very user friendly and it's simple to find the part you require. You can search by manufacturer or by serial number if you know it.
A really great feature of the Argos Spares site is the price promise. Argos will match any price on the internet, so if you can find the spare part cheaper anywhere else, Argos Spares will match that price, plus give you a 10% reduction in price. Please be aware that this price promise does not include parts found offline on the high street. With this kind of promise you can't go wrong!
Argos Spares is provided in conjunction with e-spares, who provide the service with Argos. You can buy spares for kitchen appliances, remote controls, garden equipment, ink cartridges, mobile phones, cameras, TV and audio, D.I.Y, and game consoles. Delivery is usually within 3 to 5 working days by royal mail and DHL for larger, heavier items. The delivery price depends on the value, size, weight and fragility of the part you purchase. Delivery is charged once per item, which means if you order more than one part you will only be charged for one item. This is a good way to save on delivery if you order multiple items.
Another feature on the Argos Spares web site is the user manuals section. Argos Spares aim to provide manufacturer approved user manuals that you can download for free. You could use this facility if you have lost your own user manual, or if you never had one in the first place, and it's free!! There is also a call centre number which you can ring if you get into difficulty. You can read customer comments on the Argos Spares web site, but not surprisingly they are all very favourable!

Tesco Direct
The Argos superstore is extremely successful and offers more choice and more products than any other superstore retailer. However, things may be about to change! In a move that will send shock waves through the owners of Argos UK, Tesco are planning to move into the homewares, electrical and garden products sector. They plan to bring out their own superstore called "Tesco Direct" , which, although not as big in choice as the Argos superstore, you can bet that it will grow and grow in a very short space of time. Tesco accounts for one pound in every eight spent in the UK, and their financial clout and enormous bulk buying power means that their prices will probably be even cheaper than the products in the Argos superstore.
At the moment, Tesco has already expanded it's non food operations team, and in preparation for the new superstore launch it has recruited over 100 buyers,( many have been poached from Argos themselves! ). Reports have shown that Tesco is about to overtake Argos as the leading non food retailer in the UK. Tesco have sales in the UK of around £32 billion! and their non food operations account for about 20% of this. Every year their sales grow and grow, with electrical sales up by 34% last year. At the moment though, the new Tesco superstore only has about 9000 products, compared to the 17000 on offer at the Argos superstore.
You can bet that people like Asda are looking very closely at this, and don't be surprised to see them launching a superstore as well!
The Argos superstore sells over 17000 products for the home, and the superstore comes out twice a year, with around 1700 pages. Argos serves over 130 million customers per year through it's high street stores and takes 4 million orders each year online and telephone. There is an Argos superstore in over two thirds of households in the UK!
They must be recommended because of their popularity and low prices, it's as simple as that, but get ready for the Tesco superstore and the price drops that we can look forward to.

The group, which is planning to demerge into two standalone businesses in October, said the credit information arm, Experian, was growing at a slower pace but in line with expectations. Sales at Experian were up 18% in the five months to August 31, down from a 23% increase for the three months to the end of June.
£500,000 for Whizz-Kidz
Argos has raised over £500,000 for Whizz-Kidz since their partnership began in 2003, helping to change the lives of hundreds of disabled children, their family and friends by giving them the independence to live a life of freedom.
Argos superstore staff have been raising money through various fundraising events including; marathons, treks, staff fundraising, golf days, online cause related marketing and recycling schemes.
The main fundraising event was inspired by the theme of movement and was launched to coincide with the Olympic Games. It involved splitting staff into five and challenging them to move their regional Olympic rings and flags through all 580 stores, distribution centers and offices across the UK and Republic of Ireland in the weirdest and wackiest way.
Whizz-Kidz chief executive, Ruth Owen comments: “We are delighted with the amount of money Argos superstore staff have raised, it really shows their dedication to Whizz-Kidz and the work we do. Staff at Argos superstore have created such an amazing impact; for the children and families we support and their schools and communities. The difference the right equipment makes to a disabled child and their family is quite incredible – it literally changes their lives overnight!”
Argos managing director, Sara Weller, added: “£500,000 is a fantastic amount of money for us to have raised for Whizz-Kidz at the end of our partnership and the commitment and support of all our staff has been truly inspirational. Whizz-Kidz is an amazing charity and we’re delighted that the money we have raised really will change the lives of the children that need it the most.”
About Whizz-Kidz
Whizz-Kidz changes disabled children’s lives – literally
overnight. By providing them with customised mobility
equipment, training and advice, we actually give them
something much more important. We give them the
independence to live a life of freedom at home, at school
and at play; the independence to be themselves.
